In the first red ball game of the shortened season the Army 1st XI secured a fairly comfortable win against the Fire Service. The Army batted first and scored 271 from their 40 overs (Carmichael 65 and Fletcher 51). The Fire Service started reasonably well with the first 4 batsmen all making runs but the middle order and tail collapsed to leave them 117 runs short of the required total after 34 overs. The star bowling performance came from Simon (3 for 26) with Christie, Dearden and Wood weighing in with 2 wickets each.
