New Director of the Army Sport Control Board

The Army Sport Control Board are delighted to announce that on the retirement of Major General Shaun Burley CB MBE in November 2022 that Major General Darrell Amison CBE will be taking over the reins as the Director Army Sport Control Board.

Major General Amison was commissioned into the Army in 1990. He commanded 4 Logistic Support Regiment RLC on deployments to Afghanistan in 2007 and Iraq in 2009. More recent appointments have included Deputy Chief of Staff at Headquarters, 3rd UK Division in 2010, Commander of 102 Logistic Brigade and Joint Force Support (Afghanistan) between 2013-2015 and Head Concepts at the Development, Concepts and Doctrine Centre (DCDC) in September 2015. He was appointed to Army HQ as Head of Capability Combat Service Support in December 2018 before returning to DCDC as the Director in July 2020.

From 2012 to date, Major General Amison has served as the Chair of British Army Tennis and was the Chair of UK Armed Forces Tennis between 2012-2017. Throughout his career he has been a keen competitor and advocate of sport in the Army, appreciating the tremendous benefits of sport to individual and collective well-being, morale and fighting spirit.
