The Army Netball Women’s Senior team’s nomination for the Team of the Year award is underpinned by an unprecedented record of success and sporting excellence. Beyond being a formidable force of talent, resilience and dedication, the team has also played a pivotal role in advancing Army engagement and recruitment initiatives:
- The 7th consecutive year winning the Inter-Services Championship title, generating national acclaim with 17,000 views of the final.
- Internationally competitive, selected to compete against Malawi ranked the 7th best team in the world, in a showcase pre-match to the Vitality Nations Netball Cup. Live streamed to 13.5k fans mid-week across the world.
- Emblazoned across the closing feature of the National Army recruiting campaign in Army Netball kit, demonstrating ‘what’s in it for me’ to the nation. Relatable, competitive and exemplifying the transformative power of sport within the British Army.
- The Army Netball Women’s Senior team has defeated U21 squads from Super League franchises Team Bath and Mavericks, won a two-test series against the Republic of Ireland, played the curtain raiser at England Netball International Series to a packed Nottingham Arena and won the US Open Netball Championships against teams from 24 states.
- The team features players with Super League and International experience. Their reputation attracts elite level opponents, coaches, scouts and Sky pundits to their audiences and national squads for competitive matches.
- In a highly contested sport (where 1.3 million women and girls play weekly in England alone) players, leaders and managers have professionalised Army Netball and through their determination have achieved international level credibility.
