WOW, what an experience for the Army Sport athletes and teams who competed at the European Masters Games in Tampere Finland over the period 26 June – 9 July 2023

Tampere took centre stage for the fifth European Masters Games to take place for the first time in Finland, with athletes able to compete for masters’ championships in 29 sports disciplines.  A true sports festival that celebrates fitness, friendship, passion, competition, and inspiration between sports people from across the world.

Army Sport sent 168 personnel to compete in 16 sports at the event, where they had much success on the podium, as our medal tally shows.

This event afforded our soldiers and officers with a fantastic opportunity to showcase their incredible skillset in their sport.  Moreover, every soldier participating in these games embodied why sport is so important in the Army, they demonstrated mental and physical fitness, resilience, leadership, and teamwork on an international competitive stage. They have raised awareness for their sport which has encouraged increased interest in participation from all levels of sporting ability, the benefits of which Army Sport will continue to see long after the games.

Army Sport has gained many new fans and followers on our social media as result too, due to the relationships built and friendships made in Tampere.

Well done everyone, you have done yourselves and Army Sport proud, both during competition and outside of your chosen sport while at the European Masters Games.
