The World Indoor Rowing Championships took place in Paris. Over two days (7th and 8th February) 20 competitors represented the British Army. Almost every Army athlete came away from Paris with a personal best or two. Capt Tovey REME won gold with a PB of 1:39.3 in the Lightweight 500m and 3rd in the 2000m with a PB of 7:25.5. Sgt Barrigan RAPTC finished 2nd in the women’s Lightweight 500m. Sgt Tudor RAMC placed 3rd in the women’s 500m with a PB of 1:39.0.
In the lead up to the Championships, the athletes completed 4 x 2000m tests at maximum capacity since October 2019. This is a huge demand upon the psychological and physiological effects of the human body, to keep putting yourself through that high level of conditioning is extremely applaudable.
A full list of results can be seen in the tables below of both individual and team competitions.
